Visual Treats and Thoughts#1
Have you ever looked up the sky and imagined unique patterns and distinct shapes that sometimes appear only to your eye?
Or Cooked up your own imaginative stories by simply looking at the twinkling group of stars, intriguing moon and the ever moving clouds?
I have had numerous fond memories of doing all of these with my dearest companion - my Appa.
Very often, me and Appa used to sit under the sky on a terrace or an open-to-sky corridor and talk our hearts out for hours together. Whenever we are out of topics, we spread our legs, sit comfortably, simply look up and gaze the sky up above.
Once I see some pattern of clouds, I get excited, form my own imagination and ask Appa what is his visual interpretation - Adorable Elephants to Puffy teddy bears changing to Slow moving rabits, tiny tweeny mouse, hanging balls..
On these line of thoughts, We casually start talking about each other's imaginative stories, random philosophical thoughts by simply looking at those vaporizing, constantly changing shapes of clouds and those twinkling stars.
We would be thrilled and awed to hear each other's totally different perspectives and imaginations.
It would be such a soothing bonding time with an added bonus of refreshing and blissful treat for eyes and mind!
What me and Appa had been doing very casually, I got to know recently (Thanks to my dear friend and mentor) is one of the "Visual Thinking Exercises".
It is scientifically proven to activate both the left and right hemispheres of brain, enhancing imagination, observation and creativity.
Apart from these, I personally feel it also broadens one's perspectives by listening to other's thoughts. This "Visual Treat and Thought" series of posts is an humble attempt to bring out all these aspects.
More than anything else, it is fun and liberating!
So, Are you ready to unleash your imagination?
Here is the "Visual Treat and Thought#1" picture to play with our mind:
Observe this picture for a couple of minutes and write down your thoughts bubbling up from your observation.
Remember, there is no right or wrong, big or small thoughts!
Once you are done writing, post your interpretations in this blogspot comments section and then read my thoughts.
Why post your interpretations in comments section?
This is an humble attempt to collect various different perspectives and preserve them in the Blogpost to form a repository of visual thoughts.
I strongly believe that every person's interpretation, in general, is a powerful tool in opening up others' mind in a totally different, never-imagined-before angle.
Let's get started!
My thoughts from this visual treat -
A fully bloomed flower cuddling an un-bloomed one, holding it's hands firmly, nurturing and embracing it with abundant love and care!🌟
Looking forward to each of your comments here in blogspot!
Yours Soulfully,
Gargi SMARam 💫✨

ReplyDeleteThe company you are in matters.
"The company matters" - wow, that is a thoughtful one! Thank you for sharing Sayo!
DeleteThis is a beautiful piece of writing and I can so well relate to the many games that we played as child imagining various shapes in the clouds, their stories and getting lost in that imaginative world. I can do that even today, nature is so rich, playful and abundant!
ReplyDeleteMy comment on this Visual thinking:
The flower that is bloomed was born as a flower but now it has become a beautiful red glorious torch with light oozing from within. The flower has tapped into the abundance of sunlight and Imbibed it.
Beautiful thought! "Growing by imbibing the goodness from around"
DeleteHi gargi..
ReplyDeleteFor me it looks like three generations.. getting bloomed one after another.. motivating/guiding the next flower & paving path to show the beautiful petals and fragrance..
Wow, very thoughtful -"Paving beautiful path for generations"
DeleteAnother interesting write up! As kids we were all creative & we didn't have boundaries to our thoughts. I'm glad that your dad sat along with you to tap and explore your creative side.
ReplyDeleteVisual thinking:
For some reason the plant looks like a cactus to me & it's wonderful to see flowers blooming out of it. Symbolizing that there is also a good side to anything and everything that's bad or even good side to those who we think are bad.
Interestingly the image also gives away the solution to this.
White background - Peace! To see the good side of everyone and maintaining peace in this world, can turn the little bud to a different color when it blooms.
Wow, what a profound imagination and a keen observation! It's such an exhilarating feeling to get to know such a different deep perspective - "Peace bringing colors to life!"
DeleteThis is a good activity and helps to visualize and improve the imagination of the people
ReplyDeleteWhile reading and looking at the picture there were many thoughts that came in my mind; but the one which stuck me is-
ReplyDeleteNo matter how harsh our environment is we can bloome and help others do that same.
Good one Sumana! "Be helpful irrespective of your situations!"
DeleteSimple and different thought! Thank you!
