A Tender Coconut & a Grumpy Uncle

After a sunny, tiresome and liberating morning run, I stopped by a tender coconut shop to quench my thirst. There was a vehicle parked lethargically right in the turning corner of a main road. To my best efforts, my scooty turned around and stopped in a corner.

Meanwhile, one uncle was staring at me without a blink of eye. I completely ignored him, thinking it might be because of my running attire and my sweaty face.

After a while, tired of long time staring and lack of any acknowledgement from my end, that grumpy uncle started policing me by asking why my scooty had carelessly hit his dear, pathetically parked vehicle.

I was completely taken aback! If at all, I had hit his vehicle, at the least I would have become aware of the slightest of the vibration of that so-called hitting of 2 vehicles. Simple law of physics, isn't it!

I retorted him defending my dear scooty and that grumpy uncle replied back saying my scooty had slightly frictioned with the helmet hung on his vehicle. To top it all, he demanded my apologies for that unintentional slightest rubbing between his helmet and my scooty!

I got irritated and started reacting back to him and then suddenly I sensed my boiling and irritational emotions.

At this juncture of awareness, I paused for a second, became conscious of that petty situation and responded back with that grumpy uncle's expected "sorry". He grumpily turned around and started sipping his tender coconut as if it's been gifted for his victorious argument.

I waited for a while, as the shopkeeper dint seem to care and I couldn't stand the grumpy ambience anymore, I quickly left that place in a jiffy.

Though my emotions were still trying to settle, I thanked my mindfulness lessons for being aware of the arousing emotions and for handling it smootly with conscious response.

Had I reacted back bitterly to that grumpy uncle, I would have inturn become grumpy and my entire day would have been spoilt.

With these settling thoughts and my still very thirsty thorat, I stopped by another tender coconut shop where there was no trace of any grumpy vehicles nearby. (After double checking the pulse of the shopkeeper and only when he smiled back, I stopped by).

One grumpy uncle was more than enough for practising the mindfulness today!

Thanks to that grumpy uncle without whom the post wouldn't have been possible! 😊
