Dear Appa!
Dearest Appa,
You taught me:
To be grateful, when you expressed gratitude for little things.
To be kind, through your very presence
That its ok to cry, through your own tears.
To be vulnerable, through your heartfelt open talks.
To be hopeful, through your vibrant life story, no matter how hard the life was.
To be unquestionably respectful of anyone irrespective of cadre, by the way you lead by example.
To spread love abundantly, through your pure, unconditional warmth for everyone around you.
To deepen bonds and to value people, Through your genuine nature of nurturing relationships.
To stand up for ourselves and others, When you stood up for righteousness even if you were among minority.
To rise up courageously from deadly falls and from the ashes of yours.
My painting gift to my Appa, apparently on “last” father’s day with him.
You held my hands through crests and troughs.
You showed me trusted hands to hold, when you blended with the Universe, all of a sudden.
And now, You are moulding me, to hold hands of those in need.
I am eternally grateful, being your daughter and for the invaluable time together, Appa.
I wondered with guilt, why I don’t dream and think of you more often like before!
I now know why. Do we think of our breath every moment?
You are my invisible breath.
You live through me, and I live through the precious values you taught me.
“Be cheerful, Gargi”, your voice still echoes within.
Reminding me to rise up every time I hit rockbottom.
With the hope of you watching my every step and growth, with your trademark, child-like smile and glittering eyes.
In memory of you today and forever,
Love,
Your proud daughter, Gargi 💫
Soulful, Gargi. Beautifully penned
