Lets do some back-floating!

Have you observed swimmers in back-floating posture - the peace they exuberated?!
Ever since my eyes fell on that lovely sight, been in awe of back-floating. For its cozy, relaxed posture and effortless balance!

A few years back, as soon as I joined my swimming class, I curiously asked my swimming teacher pointing at a senior's backstroke,
"Master, Master! Can you please teach me that back-stroke?!".

He scanned me head-to-toe and ridiculed,
"First go learn to float properly!
Haa, Not even started crawling yet, and this girl wants to run it seems!"

And that remained an unfulfilled wish since then.

Recently, after many years, in a small pool, while I was panting and busy catching my breath with normal strokes; A father-son duo was having fun swimming in different strokes - Indeed, "back stroke" caught my attention first.

That day, I was determined to crack the deeply desired back-strokes subject all by myself.

Slowly grasping the walls of the pool, I laid down in my favorite "savasana" yoga pose on the surface of water.

"Yay, Come on Gargi, let's do that "Peace" posture!", I pepped up myself.

Hufff... Absolutely nothing! Total Imbalance. Drowning lower body. Coughs. Same in loop - multiple times. All that happened was invasion of more and more chlorine water into my poor nose - No peace, only cough!

Suddenly, I heard my swimming teacher's banging voice from my memory archives;

"Hey, You! Let go of the stiffness in the body. Befriend water by relaxing your body. Otherwise you keep drowning the entire pool-time, trying nothing but catching cold!",

Ahaa, I found what the issue is! It's my head's stiff resistance for the fear of water invading the nose. And so the head was up and lower body kept drowning resulting in imbalance.

Now, I deliberately immersed my head totally into water, to let in that chlorine water enter the nose and coughing it out - in loops.
For the fear of water into the nose to vanish completely. As simple as that.

With relaxed head and loosened body in perfect natural balance, befriending the flow of water, I gradually opened my eyes to see the law of nature unravelling beautifully.

The clouds up above and buildings around me were moving gracefully!
I finally learnt back-floating all by myself with such an ease.

P.S: Along with it, I discovered a bonus one - flying-bird-in-water back-stroke. I don't even know if such a stroke exists, but I moved. And that's what matters to me :).

Thank you dear Universe, for another wonderful life lesson!

Let go:

Of the resistances that block the way forward

Of the fears that creates imbalances.

Just "befriend" the flow of life.

For it brings ease and peace.

Yours Soulfully,
Gargi SMARam⭐💫
